Cookie policy

This policy explains how The Exteriors Engine uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It's written in plain English.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. Some are needed for the site to work. Others help with things like advertising. We also use a small amount of similar browser storage to remember your progress through our application form.

The categories we use

  • Essential. These keep the site working. They remember your application progress and your cookie choice. They can't be switched off because the site relies on them.
  • Analytics. These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They're only set after you allow them.
  • Marketing. These power our advertising, including the Meta Pixel and related cookies. They're only set after you allow them.

The main cookies we use

  • tee_apply_sid (essential). Remembers your application progress so a half-finished form isn't lost. Lasts about 90 days.
  • tee_cookie_consent (essential). Remembers your cookie choice, including any category preferences you set. Lasts about 6 months.
  • Meta Pixel cookies such as _fbp and similar (marketing). Set only after you allow marketing cookies, and used for advertising and retargeting. Last up to about 90 days.

How to control cookies

When you first visit the site, a banner gives you three options:

  • Accept all turns on every category, including analytics and marketing.
  • Reject all keeps only the essential cookies. No analytics or marketing cookies will be set.
  • Manage preferences opens a panel where you can turn each non-essential category on or off individually. Save your choices with the button provided.

Rejecting is as easy as accepting, in line with ICO guidance. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the site footer. You can also clear or block cookies at any time in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well if you block the essential ones.
